Natural Face-Skin Care

Rise and Shine with Natural Beauty

The most important aspect in attaining beautiful skin is in how you take care of it- both inside and out.
Dr. DeVita shares many healthy, natural ways in how to use essential oils to achieve vibrant, glowing, smooth and rejuvenated skin.

First and foremost in Skin Care is to nurture your skin before Cosmetics are applied, in other words:

1. SKIN CARE FIRST

2. MAKE-UP SECOND

skin’s age depends on how
well you take care of it.”

STEP A—CLEANSING

Cleansing is the most important step. It removes dirt and impurities from the surface of the skin. Use a cleanser to remove your
makeup and dirt that collected during the day. The ancient Romans were reported to massage oil into their skin, then scrape it off to remove the dirt. Cleanse daily.

Here is a simple cleansing formula that combines fatty oils with essential oils that can be used for all skin types.

To 1 oz. carrier oil (hazelnut, almond, hemp, jojoba, olive, avocado or sesame – use heavy oil like avocado for dry skin, light oil like almond for oily skin) add 6 to 10 drops of essential oil of choice: Lemon, Sage, Clary Sage, Thyme, Lavender, Rosemary or Geranium. Blend oils and apply to face. Gently wipe off with warm, wet washcloth.

STEP B—SCRUBS OR EXFOLIATOR

Apply before bedtime to remove impurities. Exfoliate or use a scrub 2 to 3 times a week.
Use warm water, never hot. In the morning, wash with warm water only. Avoid abrasive scrubs if skin is sensitive.

Avoid soaps: they strip the skin of its protective mantle. Scrubs gently slough off or exfoliate dead skin cells that can contribute to blemishes, dryness and wrinkles. Scrubs can help to boost circulation to your face.

1. First splash your face with warm un-chlorinated water.
2. Scoop the scrub onto your fingers and massage all over your face in a circular motion.
3. Rinse your face with warm water. Pat dry.

Extra Gentle Every Day Scrub

Pour 2 to 3 tsp. of baking soda into the palm of your hand. Add 1 drop of Lavender or Clary Sage; add a little warm water to make a paste. Apply and massage in a circular motion.

Ready–made Scrubs

Mint Scrub (from Young Living) for normal skin. Scrub can be used as a drying face mask to draw impurities from the skin.

STEP C—MASSAGE FACE AND ACUPRESSURE POINTS
(YOUR FACE-UPS)

According to many massage therapists, facial massage increases circulation to your skin and improves the complexion. This helps bring problem skin into balance.
Remember: “To a large extent, your skin’s age depends on how well you take care of it.”

To the Chinese and Indian Ayurvedic traditions, massage is considered just as essential to health and beauty as a good diet. Massage gives luster to the skin, tones and relaxes the underlying muscles, increases body heat, improves circulation, flushes out waste products and rejuvenates the skin. Applying acupressure to specific face points enhances the procedure to produce better results.

To 1 oz. carrier oil, add 6 to 10 drops oil of
your choice (e.g. Lemon, Clary Sage or Ylang
Ylang) as your face and neck massage oil.

THE MASSAGE PROCEDURE
1. Begin at the base under the chin and stroke upward to the top of each ear.
2. Start at the jaw and move your hands to the corner of the mouth; to the corner of the nose; cheekbone; then over to the temple to the middle of the forehead.
3. Make a circle from inner corners of the eyes and under your eyes.
4. Massage upper lip outside of the mouth.
5. Stroke forehead upward into hairline.
6. Massage head by gently tapping the head all over, to stimulate the circulation. Rub along the scalp over the head. Gently
tug on the hair from the roots — helps to relieve muscle tension.

STEP D– MASKS

Many choices for masks
Facial masks have many benefits: can nourish your skin, moisturize, rejuvenate, stimulate, as well as cleanse and peel off the outer skin layer. Masks can also clear acne, act as an anti-wrinkle treatment and natural face-lift. Masks are a great way to invigorate your
complexion and face tone.

STEP E – TONERS

Toners are used to help cleanse, refresh and to tighten your skin. Best applied every day to a freshly washed face as it allows for better absorption of moisturizers or face oils. You can also use a toner over your face as a mid-day freshener.

If floral waters are not available—it’s easy to create your own

• Minty Toner – Peppermint oil is a naturally antiseptic tonic.
Add 6 to 8 drops Peppermint essential oil to 1/2 cup witch hazel. Pour into a bottle, mix and apply.
• Rosewater – Create your own. Add 1 to 2 drops Rose Oil in 8 oz. of filtered water. Shake and apply. Stimulating and elevating to the mind; prevents and reduces scarring, softens and soothes your skin.

STEP F—MOISTURIZER/FACIAL CREAMS

Apply oil blends on the face first.
Then apply your choice of moisturizer creams. Moisturizer creams are not necessarily needed if you use a carrier oil and essential oil blend for moisturizing your face (always on damp skin).

Rose Ointment (from Young Living)– feeds and re-hydrates the skin and supplies nutrients necessary to slow down the aging process.

* Sandalwood Moisturizer Créme
– helps to promote younger, healthier skin.
* Boswelia Wrinkle Créme – is a collagen builder. Helps to minimize and prevent wrinkles. Excellent for dry, premature aging skin.
* Wolfberry Eye Créme – eases eye puffiness and dark circles. Promotes skin tightening.
